Martice Scales
Martice is the co-founder of Full Circle Healing. Martice has a deep passion for growing food and caring for the earth. Having grown up in poverty, Martice brings a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience of social injustice. For over six years, Martice worked closely with those experiencing homelessness, before pursuing his passion to work with the land. Martice is passionate about working with those who are disenfranchised and believes that one way to heal our broken world is to simply remember that all people, regardless of their circumstance, are people and should be treated with dignity and respect.
When Martice is not working on the farm, he works part-time in a prison reentry program designed to address unresolved, underlying trauma that predicates anti-social and criminal behavior and heightens the risk for ongoing criminal system involvement.
Martice is a certified Reiki Master and loves to be able to help people holistically heal through his Reiki sessions. He also enjoys writing fiction, learning to play the djembe, watching and practicing martial arts, camping, trying to troubleshoot computer issues (sometimes successfully), and relaxing with his wife and four children.
Amy Kroll-Scales
Amy is the co-founder of Full Circle Healing. When Martice told Amy that he wanted to be a farmer, she jumped right in on this dream as she had always wanted to be a farmer growing up. Amy is the primary caretaker of the herbs and the flowers on the farm.
Amy also has a passion for working and advocating for those who have been abandoned by society. Amy is a licensed psychotherapist, specializing in trauma. After having gone through her own post-partum depression and anxiety, she is also finalizing her specialization in perinatal mental health counseling. She strongly believes that all deserve to have access to healing of their mind, body, and spirit.
Amy is passionate about food justice and reducing the stigma around mental illness, homelessness and poverty-all of which are intrinsically related. Amy has worked for the majority of her adult life with individuals who are experiencing homelessness, trauma or who are in the midst of a psychiatric crisis.
Amy enjoys playing piano, being outside with her family, coaching her kids soccer, reading, cooking, camping, creating new herbal products, preserving food, creating miniatures, and spending time with Martice and her kids.
Mason
Mason is 11-years old and loves to be outside and on the farm. He has been “waiting his whole life” to have a farm. His particularly enjoys finding “dinosaur” bone rocks, using his cutting shears to kill thistle, throwing rocks into the water, starting the bonfires, climbing rock piles, climbing trees, spending time with the animals and asking if he can have screen time.
Mason loves all things Marvel, soccer and pretty much any sport, camping, swimming, playing with his siblings, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, watching sports, and learning how to use farming equipment.
Mason loves to show his friends his animals.
Maxwell
Maxie is 7 years old and loves to be on the farm. He loves to climb trees, dig for worms and “bones,” pick produce, plant the plants in, feed the animals, and just generally run around the farm flipping and doing gymnastics.
Max loves gymnastics, soccer, coloring and painting, playing sports with his brother, using his imagination with his little sisters, climbing things, swimming, having quiet time and being outside. Max loves to spend time with his friends and cousins.
Max loves to tell everyone about farming and animals, and loves to tell people he is a farmer.
Harriet
Harriet is our 3-year old little bossy girl! She loves to do everything that mom, dad, her brothers or her little sister is doing. She has a serious case of FOMO and never wants to miss out on any activity including anything that needs to be done around the farm.
Harriet loves to help with all things farm related including using tools, harvesting, weeding, planting, watering, sneaking produce off the plants, mowing the lawn, and looking at the animals (though she is terrified of touching them).
She loves to cook, play with her dolls, anything art or playdough related, playing with her brothers, kissing her little sister and pretending that she is her baby, taking care of anyone who has “big feelings", pretending she is a doctor, and attending everyone’s doctors appointments that she possibly can.
Harriet really “lobes” her family and her animals.
Rue
Rue is our 1-year old who rounds out our amazing kiddos. She is the surprise gift we didn’t know our family needed until she was here! She is by far, the chilliest of the bunch and seems to have the soul of Amy’s Oma who passed shortly before we found out we were pregnant with her.
Rue loves to her brothers and sister and wakes up every morning to being smothered in kisses. Though not yet helpful in any way around the farm, she loves play in the grass, follow her siblings around, be carried in the hiking pack, and has absolutely no fear of the animals.
She loves all things fruit and vegetables. Rue loves to dance, smile, laugh and really only cries if her food is not provided to her fast enough!
